This Privacy Policy tells you how we protect and use information that we gather on one of our web sites or through one of our cloud-based products and services, such as IT.Shavlik (collectively “online services”). By using one of our online services, you agree to the terms of the most recent version of this Privacy Policy. Personal and Non-Personal Information

Our Privacy Policy identifies how we treat your personal and non-personal information collected on one of our online services.

Non-personal information Shavlik does not collect personal information when you use Shavlik's online services unless you choose to provide such personal information. If you use one of our online services to read information, such as information about one of our products, we may collect certain non-personal information about you from your computer or web browser. For instance, if you use one of our free services, such as Shavlik Security Advisor, to run an assessment of your systems, we collect and store the results of the assessment, but will not collect any personal information about you unless you voluntarily share it by registering your name or email address (in which case your name or email will be treated as “personal information” below).

We do not use cookies to collect any information about your browsing preferences.

Because non-personal information cannot identify you or be tied to you in any way, there are no restrictions on the ways that we can use or share non-personal information. We are always looking for ways to better serve you and improve our products and services. We will use non-personal information from you to help us make our products and services more useful to users. We also will use non-personal information for other business purposes. For example, we may use non-personal information or aggregate non-personal information to create reports for internal use to develop programs, products, services or content, to customize the information or services that are of interest to you, to share it with or sell it to third parties, or provide aggregated information on how people use our site, such as "traffic statistics" and "response rates," to third parties.

Personal information. You may have the opportunity to send us personal information about yourself in order to request information, to purchase access to one of our products or services, or to participate in an activity in conjunction with one of our online services. Shavlik collects personal information during product download registration or web scanner initiation including, but not limited to, your first name, last name, company affiliation, physical address, e-mail address and other contact information. We may also collect user IDs and passwords, billing and transaction information, and credit card or other financial information when you order products or subscribe to services,

We may keep and use personal information we collect from you through one of our online services to provide you with access to one of our products or services. In addition, we may keep and use your personal information to respond to your requests, to bill you for products/services you purchased, and to provide ongoing service and support, to contact you with information that might be of interest to you, including information about products and services of ours and of others, or ask for your opinion about our products or the products of others, for record keeping and analytical purposes and to research, develop and improve programs, products, services and content. We may also remove your personal identifiers (your name, e-mail address, social security number, etc). In this case, you would no longer be identified as a single unique individual. Once we have de-identified information, it is non-personal information and we may treat it like other non-personal information. Personal information collected online may be combined with information you provide to Shavlik through other sources such as trade shows. Shavlik will not share your personal information collected from one of our online services with an unrelated third party without your permission, except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy.

In the ordinary course of business, we will share some personal information with companies that we hire to perform services or functions on our behalf. For example, we may use different vendors or suppliers to ship you products that you order. In these cases, we provide the vendor with information to process your order such as your name and mailing address. In all cases in which we share your personal information with a third party, we will not authorize them to keep, disclose or use your information with others except for the purpose of providing the services we asked them to provide. We will not sell, exchange or publish your personal information, except in conjunction with a corporate sale, merger, dissolution, or acquisition.

Shavlik does not agree or disagree with anything posted on the discussion board. Please do not post sensitive information in the public discussions, and remember that you must comply with our other published policies regarding postings on our public forums.

Shavlik reserves the right to modify this statement at any time. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will be posted in the Shavlik Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy was updated on April 12, 2011 to clarify that it applies to information collected when users access our cloud-based products and services, such as IT.Shavlik.
